Charlton Community Bank grant success for Wycheproof Tennis

The Board of the Charlton Community Bank has announced successful grant recipients for the latest grant round as:
· Charlton Traffic Safety Education Centre for the replacement of Charlton Community Bank car - $12,900
· Wycheproof Lawn Tennis Club for sponsorship grant for new synthetic courts - $15,000

Board Chairman, Robin McRae, said the Board was very pleased with the number and amount of grants to be processed and evaluated. “This is the eighth year of the program and in recent years the number of applications far exceeds the amount of money available”.
He said; “The Australian economy is struggling at the moment and the banking sector is no different. In  particular ,Community Banks in rural areas are suffering from two years of drought”. He thanked all of the clients of the Charlton and Community Bank for their support. “By banking with our bank it allows us to produce the profits that go firstly to the shareholders but then to programs like the grant’s program. The more business that is placed with our bank then the more the board is able to assist local organisations in these important projects for each one.
Charlton & District Community Bank has supported significant projects in Wycheproof in recent years and Mr McRae said he was please to add the support of the Tennis Club, to these other projects including: the Men’s Shed, Wycheproof Field & Game, and Wycheproof Bowls Club. He also noted that the Community Bank provided sponsorship, most years, to the Football, Netball, Tennis, Bowls and Golf Clubs as well as Field & Game, A&P Society, Wycheproof VISION and Wycheproof P-12 College.
Mr McRae has called on the Wycheproof community to support the bank agency in Wycheproof so that the current level of support continues. “We appreciate all those customers who have brought their business to our agency since the other bank closed. However, we need many large businesses; from the farming and retail sectors to bring their business over to our bank”. The Bendigo Bank provides a full range of banking services including Rural Finance, Rural Bank as well as business banking.., Mr McRae said. Please contact our Manager, Brett Schofield to discuss all of your future banking needs.

Brains at school
By Demi & Keely

On Thursday 11 August  the Years 2, 3 & 4 Integrated Studies class went to the science room and looked a sheep brains, which we got from the butchers. . We have been learning about the skull and bones in the body. At the science room we put on coats and goggles. Each table was given some brains on a tray. We looked at the nerves in the brain and the grey matter which we use to think with. We also talked a little about how the right side controls the left side and vice versa. Demi and Amara got to flip the brains first . The brain felt really cold and felt like jelly. We really liked the day. It was fun. Thank you Chalmers Butchers for donating the brains.

Wyche On Track September 2016 News with Jacinta

Ahh...September! The magpies are swooping, the days are longer, the sunshine warmer, the crops are growing, the annual golf tournament is nigh, and the winter sports are in finals mode. There’s a lot to look forward to during Spring in Wycheproof.
For many of us it is annual general meeting (AGM) season, and clubs and organisations are looking for committee members. Wycheproof VISION is one of them, with the AGM scheduled for 6.30pm Tuesday 27 September at the Wycheproof Railway Station. All positions are vacant and nominations must be received by 19 September. Another organisation holding an AGM this month is the Wycheproof Lawn Tennis Club, Monday 12 August at 7pm at the Royal Mail Hotel. A committee position in a volunteer organisation is something to be seriously considered by young volunteers; it looks great on a resume and you can learn valuable skills that can be used in the workplace.
Volunteering is vital for our community. Volunteering is a great way for new residents to learn more about our town and meet new friends. Several groups are urgently seeking volunteers including: Wycheproof Op Shop, Wycheproof Cancer Support Group, Friends of EWHS– Wycheproof, and Wycheproof Community Museum. If you can help call in to WCRC.
Speaking of volunteers, one of our most prominent volunteers who has served the community over many years is Cr Stuart McLean. He and Nuccia, who served as president of Wyche 2010 for two years 2007-2009, will be guests of honour at a community farewell on Friday 9 September from 6.30pm at the Royal Mail Hotel. All are welcome.
Take some time this month to prepare for the 125th annual Wycheproof A&P Society Show on Wednesday 19 October. Schedules are out and there are many great events to enter. Wycheproof VISION is again hosting the Scarecrow Competition and we hope to see many creative and colourful entries from individuals, families and community organisations.
Congratulations to all the football, netball and hockey teams on a competitive 2016 season. All the best for Wycheproof teams in finals over coming weeks.
